ADP Price Check + Improved Offenses, Counting is Hard - Fantasy Football Podcast for 6/23

We'll see what happens. Jason, I'm going to let you take this first hype train piece. You are the captain of this podcast. Oh, man. The athletic beat reporter says that Gabriel Davis is, quote, a full-time starter and is likely to bust loose as the best running mate of Stefan Diggs has had since coming to Buffalo. How long is this train go? Am I supposed to stop it? You have to turn it off.

My apologies. Yeah, I was really waiting for that thing. I felt I had to yell over the train. I was standing on the tracks. But yes, Gabriel Davis, this is when I talked about him about a month ago, he was already making waves in training camp, or I think at that point it was OTAs. He's really good, and he's a full-time starter. He's going to get the opportunity. I worry about.

you know, fluff pieces like this. Today's an ADP price check. Like Gabriel Davis is clearly in the running for a my guy for me. But I worry because if he ends up being priced all the way to the breakout. Let me give you an example. Right now on underdog in best ball tournaments, wide receiver 24. Yeah, I think I would still. That's intense. That is intense. That is intense. But that's, I mean, that might be really near my cap. But I still think he has room to beat that.

But if he starts getting up there, you know, 16, 17, like, that's, I mean, you're leaving yourself not a lot of cushion for positivity. We have some reports from the athletic that the Texans will, quote, lean on Marlon Mac early in the season. Speaking of Achilles. Yeah, remains to be seen Marlon Mac. I mean, he at least got back on the field. He didn't, he didn't look like the previous Marlon Mac as in pre-injury. We'll see if.

The extra year has given him enough time to recover. But this, you know, no one is excited to draft a Houston Texan not named Brandon Cooks and especially from their running backs. But you got to find cheap volume somewhere at the running back position. If it turns out, it's going to be Marlon Mack. That's at least interesting in the double digit rounds. And look, it's the off season. It would not be complete without reports out of Indianapolis. That Paris Campbell, wide receiver.

is running with the first team offense. And... Oh, man. Paris Campbell is... Going into year four. Going into year four. Like, okay, let's jump in the time machine. A round two selection by the Colts out of Ohio State. Like, absolutely elite athleticism. Elite. And the guy has appeared in...

under 16 games in his entire career. This guy has done nothing wrong. When he's on the field, you're like, okay, that's interesting. I mean, your opportunities to see what he can do have been very far and few between. But I will say this, the team has to like this guy because a player with this injury history who has basically given the team nothing, no return on that second round pick, going into year four.

He's still on the team, number one. And number two, if he is actually still running with the ones, I mean, you have, you got Pity City, you got Michael Pittman over there. They did draft Pierce, yep, Alec Pierce in the third. Kyle, is that right? In the second. In the second, okay. But other than that, like the wide receiver crew.

There's a spot for Paris Campbell. It's a chicken or the egg situation. Is it that they really like Paris Campbell? They still have belief in him. And so they didn't do much to replace wide receivers. Or is it, you know, they lost wide receivers. They lost Zach Pascal. T.Y. Hilton has aged himself out. And it's like, well, we got to keep Paris Campbell around. Paris Campbell has been in the news just like this every single year. I'm not.

I'm not buying it. You've never been in. That's true. I was never in. And so, woo-hoo. Yeah, you've, you've never been in. I was in on the prospect who is 98th percentile athleticism, 99th, 40. We got a 98th percentile speed score. Like the.

Like I said, elite athlete. The first four games. Can't get on the field. Last year where he was healthy, played the majority of snaps. He was on pace for 38, he was on a 17 game pace for 38 receptions of 470 yards. That was when he was healthy. Sure. I'm not, I'm, fool me once. Can't fool me, quattro. We'll be fooled again.

Oh, wait. Oh, there's more. It does appear there is one more piece of news. Jason Garrett, the aforementioned clapper extraordinaire, will replace Drew Breeze on NBC's NFL pregame show. No, he will not. And they thought it couldn't get worse than Drew Breeze. Oh, they've done it. What are we doing? Jason Garrett is a, to be fair, he is a very likable guy.

Like human being. That's fine. Well, for a commentator, I mean, he's got true NFL knowledge. He's been a head coach, an offensive coordinator. He's a nice guy. I don't know. Like, I have not. I do. You know how he. I'm telling you this is not ending well. The personality is not a fire. Not when you clap like that. If you clap like that, the personality is like. But NBC, why? Why? Why Jason Garrett? Like.

Whatever, man. Enjoy, you'll enjoy those ratings. All right, let's move on. You better check yourself before you wreck yourself. All right, like we mentioned, the ADP price check. We've got some players. We're going to talk about where they are going in drafts. Again, we are using the Sleeper Platform's ADP. Some of these ADPs are certainly different over on Underdog when you're playing bestball because you're only chasing, well, not only, but you're really, really chasing upside. So.

It could be a little bit different. But let's start here. The man who is currently, you know, not showing up because he's looking for the bag. Terry McLaurin of the Washington Manders. Right now, he is our wide receiver 25. And we just, we got a nice sandwich here. Yeah. Andy is the lowest. You are the highest. And I'm right in the middle. My affection for Terry McLaurin, the athlete, the wide receiver, the man is well known on this podcast.

It's just very difficult for me to get on board with such a bust boom. Like he wasn't boom bus. He was bust boom. And now you have Carson Wentz coming into town. Jason, where do you? Hold up. Okay. Did you love Pity City last year? I did. Wide receiver 15? I did. Who was throwing him the ball? It was Carson West. Yeah. So you say you love Terry McLaurin. I call shenanigans. All right. Let's play the game. All right. I'm going to let you kick it off.

Who, Terry McLaurin, guess the ADP. He is a clear definition of what I think a fourth round wide receiver would be. I don't know. Wow. I don't know where that. Well, that's like always the high upside boom busts like, but a lot of question mark guys, that's always where they're drafted. What does that make him? Probably like the wide receiver 18. But we're guessing the ADP though. Are we guessing both? Yeah. Whatever.

We make the rules. It's our show. This is our show. We can do this. I'm going to say 408 and wide receiver 19. I'm going to go lower. I'm going to go like 504. And, you know, that puts him, I don't know, wide receiver 21 or something like that. Where is he actually going? He's going 405 at wide receiver 14. Holy crap.

Okay. Were we both? I mean, I was through love. What did you say? I said 408, so I was close on where, but much, much higher. Wow. Wide receiver 14 is, look, I'm the highest, right? I haven't met wide receiver 18. I see the path for him. I do think that Taylor Heineke was.

awful. I mean, yeah, that's a fair point. Carson wins is not great. He is not the solution, but he is a significantly better quarterback than the players that Terry McLaurin was playing with last year.

But one of the lessons to take away from last year and the stuff to remember episode that I kept trying to say, man, next year I got to hammer this home to myself, is that the middle of the pack quarterback changes that are here to replace the bad situation. Right. It's never the South. It doesn't fix it. So I think I've got, I like where Terry McLaurin is in my rankings and I'm the highest. But man, if he's being drafted as a wide receiver 14.

Too rich for my blood. I would not take him there. Last year, we had four top 10 performances from Terry McLaurant, and that included three of those were in the top five. But if he wasn't there, you have a couple finishes just inside wide receiver 36 and then a bunch of just red destruction that really hurt your team. Maybe mine is just, maybe I'm getting too emotional about Terry McLaurin.

letting me down, you know, last year of the potential that we saw with him, you know, his rookie year. And then he improved from the rookie year, you know, from 920 yards up to over 1,100 yards. The guy still finished with 1,000 and 5. It just was, we need a little bit more consistency. And perhaps, perhaps Carson Wentz is enough of an upgrade over Terry McLaurin that we don't get top tier elite Terry McLaurin, but we at least,

Let's add two to three boom games on there, which then Terry McLaurin becomes far more interesting at that ADP. Yeah, and there were so many plays that I was, I remember watching Terry McLaurin last year just torch someone and get the ball kind of thrown to him. Right. But not really. And I feel like, man, he left a lot of yard. The quarterback situation left a lot of yards on the field. So there's, there's upside for McLaurin, but I'm not reaching for him as the wider street of 14.

And we do have report Jeremy Fowler of ESPN saying the manders have intensified their efforts to get the long-term contract done. That's good because if he's not there, you have Josh Dotson as your number one wide receiver. Yeah, okay. All right, moving on to the next player. We're going to go with a running back, Jason. This is your dude. This is my dude. He's so good, guys. I totally agree with that assessment that he is good. Breece Hall.

Rookie running back for the New York Jets drafted very high in the second round. We know that since 2012, there have been at least two rookie running backs in the top 24 every year. The running back position is a young man's game. Over the last decade, rookie running backs with ADPs in the top five rounds. You know, they get the touches. You're 19 touches a game. Nine touchdowns a season. 64% of them outperform their ADP.

Will Breeze Hall do that because his ADP is sitting at... Well, based on that note of being top five rounds, I'm going to say he's in the top five rounds. For sure. But how high? I think he's in the fourth round. Can I talk you into a third round, Breece Hall, Jason? Oh, man. Can you talk me into picking a third round, Breece Hall, is...

Something that you might just got on the line. You might be able to do, but not, I don't think that's where his ADP is. I'm going to stick with the fourth round. Um, so I assume that would be around running back 15. I think he's also going, but so what? You're just saying fourth round overall? Where, where was McLaurin? 4.05. I'm going one spot ahead. I think people take him one spot ahead. 4.03. But you said one spot. What did I do? You went two.

404. Can I interest? I'm not taking crazy pills here. That's what happened, right? Yeah, 404 sounds good, Jason. Perfect. What did you say? What did you say? I'm good at math, but I'm bad at counting. Well, you said, where did I take Terry McLaurin? Because I'm going to go one spot higher. Right. And we said you went 405 for McLaurin and you still gave 403. Well, you know, sometimes you're bad at counting.

I'm going to go 402. I don't like the fact that he has a dead spot or a dead zone running back. That is extremely dangerous that area. But it's not that no one comes out of the dead zone, but it's harder to hit on those guys. Where is Breece Hall going currently? 409 running back 22. Okay. Okay. And for our rankings, consensus, we have RB19. Jason again has him the highest, which I would expect, running back 15.
