Week 6 Waivers + Full Stream Ahead, Miracles & Nightmares - Fantasy Football Podcast for 10/12

All right, let's talk about some players, see if they are truly heating up, or if they're going to stay in the smoke, or are they going to jump to fully inflamed and on fire? Jason Leonard Fornett, Buccaneers running back, the first three weeks of the season. It was, you know, ho-hum, kind of same old, same old. Ronald Jones is mixing in. You got Giovanni Bernard.

Leonard Fernett in that stretch of those first three weeks did not finish inside the top 24, did not surpass 10 points and a half point scoring format. However, these past two weeks against the New England Patriots, he had 25 opportunities. Granted Giovanni Bernard was out, but 15 points finished at the running back 15. Follow that up as the running back 14 against the Miami Dolphins. Where are we at with Leonard Fornett?

Oh, man, I feel like this is fire. Okay, okay. But this is the fire that you get burned by because. Well, that is most fire. Well, okay, that's fair. That's a solid counter. I've never encountered a fire that couldn't burn it. Well, let me change. This fire is freezing. Let me change the analogy here. Please. I think it is fire. It's not just, we're not on super smoke. This is a heated up.

grill with a fire the concierist steak. The problem is when you are cooking this Leonard Fournette on the grill, I think you're going to accidentally touch the grill. I think you're going to put the knuckles on the grill and you're going to go, ah, Bruce, Bruce, you got me again. Here's a deal.

It hasn't been much of a change for Leonard Fournet. You talk about those first three weeks not being great. He had 16 opportunities week one, 15 opportunities week two. This last week's 17 opportunities. Not very different. The difference, of course, like a lot of fantasy finishes, just touchdowns. The matchup against Miami, we loved that this last week. He was our start of the week.

I don't think the opportunities are going away. We saw them utilize him in the run to the Super Bowl. We've seen their hatred for Ronald Jones and they're despising of his fumbling. So I think Leonard Fournett is here to stay. I think this is fire, not smoke, but he isn't that good. What? I think he's fine. He is fine. He is not great.

He's good, but he's not great. He's not a guy where, like, if you told me, you know, a star running back is getting 17 touches a game, I'd be all about that. I think Leonard Fournett is the type that needs 20 touches a game to have, like,

a good fantasy finish. So he is someone that is probably in your lineup most every week's. I don't think he's going to go away. I think he's here to stay. But your good fantasy performances are going to come in the better matchups. He does have 17 red zone opportunities through five games. The rest of the backfield, only eight. So he is being relied on to get those very high value touches. Number two.

This is a guy that we've been talking about kind of all year. It's Manny Sanders from the Buffalo Bills. You have three good weeks in a row here. Two superb and one just, you know, he was fine. But where are we at with Emmanuel Sanders moving forward for the rest of the season? The routes are there. He is currently the wide receiver 17 on the season.

Cole Beasley saw his lowest snap percentage of the season this past week. Where are you at with Mandy Sanders? Reliable wide receiver two or just a flex? I would not use the word reliable, but certainly I'm hot and bothered. I think he is someone that you can, you probably should throw in your lineup every single week. This fire is getting you hot and bothered. This fire's getting me hot and bothered. I am really close to the grill here. I'm like, everyone's like, Jay, back up.

You're too close. No. No. I want to smell. I need to feel this. Swag you on the grill. Here's a reality. Last year, Cole Beasley was the wide receiver 26. We think of him as very reliable for fantasy. He had a great season last year. Almost 1,000 yards. He has been overtaken here.

Like, not in the same, and not only has he been overtaken, but more valuable targets. He's getting downfield targets and the air yards that we talked about from those first couple weeks that weren't materializing while Josh Allen looked a little, I don't know, rusty, I guess. They're coming to fruition. So Diggs has two fewer routes run than Emmanuel Sanders.

He is an absolute huge part of this offense. The reason I don't say reliable is just because if you look at how, even Cole Beasley, Cole Beasley, you would say super reliable last year, PPR guy just. Yeah, it was. Yeah, he was, right? He only had five games last year inside the top 24 at wide receiver. Cole Beasley did. And so while I think different archetype, though. Right. Well, I think that.

Mani will have more inside the top because of those air yards. I do think it will be inconsistent, but you want to have them in your lineup every week to get the big games. So I guess if I have to call this, I'm definitely saying fire. Mani Sanders, until an injury comes at his age, I am playing him without hesitation. Number three, this one is far more difficult, if you ask me. Miles Gaskin, this week's running back three in a matchup.

Of course, against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers because he had 10 receptions for 74 yards and two scores. Now we know that Devante Parker was out. Will Fuller was out. You cannot run on Tampa Bay. This has kind of been the game script for all teams that are taking on the Buccaneers. They just pretty much abandon the run. You sprinkle in a carry here or there, but it's not going to work. So where are we at?

with Miles Gaskin, who last year was very good. The eyeball test says he is clearly the best running back on the team. Oh, yeah. And yet two weeks ago, they were giving all these opportunities to Malcolm Brown. And the concern of rational coaching is a real thing, where we think a coach should be doing something because it's clear and obvious, aka, you know,

give Tyson Williams the ball for the Baltimore Ravens. And they're like, no, we're going to use Latavius Murray. Miles Gaskin moving forward, is he reliable? He's going to be playing Jacksonville and Atlanta the next two weeks? Yeah, the next two weeks matchups are great. I don't think he's going to be someone that is reliable because the offense is going to be bad. There's two big questions here to me is when does Tua come back?

because I think the offense will be better. I think they're saying he might be back this week. Right. So to me, I see that as an upgrade for Gascon. I know that this last game came where he was the running back three from Brissette, but in general, the reason it came, the reason he was running back through is because he got two touchdowns. I don't see two touchdowns coming as often with Brissette as it would with Tua. I agree with that, but still 10 for 74, even if you're not.

the running back 3, 10 for 74 is a very usable fantasy running back. Well, and that leads me to the second one, which is Devante Parker. I think that Miles Gaskin was very necessary in this game because you've lost a lot of their targets. You had no Will Fuller, no Devante Parker. And so Devante Parker, if he's back this next week, I think Miles Gaskin will be in the lineup because of the matchup against Jacksonville. But this is also a game where it's like, okay,

The reason you had to throw on Tampa Bay is because twofold. One, you can't run on them, but two, you're down. Are they going to be down against Jacksonville? Could this become a Malcolm Butler type of game, like protect the lead, grind the clock, you know what I mean, as opposed to having 10 receptions? Malcolm Brown? Yeah. You said Butler. I didn't know where we were going. Yeah. No, Malcolm Brown would be a better running back to use. Malcolm Butler.

who retired at cornerback would not be as successful at protecting the lead we're in agreement okay but um i think i think in general miles gaskin is smoke

On the course of the season, like I would capitalize on a running back three finish, and I would try to trade him and get something for him. He's not a running back I want to rely on, even though he's got a nice schedule for the next two weeks. And don't hear what I'm not saying. I don't think he's going to be worthless. I think he'll get five targets every single game in a full PPR more value, but this is not a team I really want, and we've seen.

them just for some for no reason you know two weeks ago you got two opportunities in the game so i would capitalize and move on yeah i agree here on miles it's going to be tough to trade him because you're this isn't a a player has one good week and you're going to be able to trade high on him because he's had four essentially bad weeks so it it will take a package trade but
