Week 2 Matchups, In-or-Out, Storytime with Jason

I mean, I realize he was involved that one game where Marlon Mack was there, but I'm not touching a single Colts running back. I'm fine going completely hands off, but if I have to pick one, that's the one I'm going to pick. No interest in Mac, Wilkins, Heinz, and Michael.

Not from me. I want to see what the breakdown is of carries more than likely. Let's say they were going to have Marlon Mack be the true leader, you know, 65% market share. They're not going to do that this week. Well, let's find out.

before we throw him in there's no reason to play him. I've benched all my Colts running backs. The other running backs, I'll take both of them. Yeah, two starts of the week. My start of the week is Adrian Peterson. Jason's is Chris Thompson. Listen, the Colts have allowed 10.4 yards per reception of running back since the start of last season. That is worst in the National Football League, and Chris Thompson looked electric last week. Yeah, it's a perfect match. He leads the league in yards per reception from running back. Right.

Watch out. The math adds up there. So we're starting both running backs for Washington. We're starting Jordan Reed. We're starting Alex Smith. But are we taking a chance with any of these whiteouts? Because last week, Alex Smith showed you what he does. He takes what the defense gives him. Last week, it wasn't a lot of Crowder Docks and Richardson. It's really hard to go in on any Washington wide receiver.

We're really hoping that someone separates himself from the pack, but that was the concern all off season. Does anyone have the ability to do that? Everyone kind of picked their favorite guy, and we're only one game in, but...

No one's looking even close to breaking out from this core. Yeah, and I don't think it's a good idea to take the gamble. And the truth is, even if next week it looks like it's Crowder or it looks like it's Doxon or it looks like it's Richardson, I doubt that it's just consistent as time goes on. Until Jordan Reed gets injured.

I'm staying away from the wide receivers. I'm a little worried, Andy, about the Washington defense. I don't quite have the same confidence solely because of Andrew Luck. It's just going to be tough because T.Y. Hilton, that number one weapon, you've got the Josh Norman factor in that secondary, and they're at home. And I just think that they came out and really impressed me last week, and so I feel confident enough. I get that, though. light up the yardage numbers in garbage time, if that was the case. So I get that, but the defensive options are kind of a struggle. Yes, this is a hard week. Right now. So, by the way, some breaking news, the Atlanta Journal Constitution just reported that Devonta Freeman is not expected to play Week 2 against the Panthers. Man, that seems like that should have had a drop. Oh, you mean like this? Breaking News. What is it? Play 7 Coleman. Yes. That's the breaking news.

Like, even though I'm in control of all the drops over here, I feel like Brooks should have one of those like a big easy button style breaking news drop on his side. Yeah, that would be awesome. Because then he breaks into the show. I was imagining him with a 15 foot long pointer. Oh, he reaches all the way from over there. That has a finger and also just slide into the frame. of their defense. It's a little different of a defense. But, but at the end of the day, that secondary is so strong, this is why I like Ricky Seals Jones in this game. I figure the game script means the Cardinals are going to be down on the road gaining garbage time yardage and Ricky Seals Jones will benefit. David Johnson will benefit from that. I just hope that this game doesn't turn into last week where you saw too much Chase Edmonds at the end of it because the game was out of hand. How do you feel about the Rams wide receivers?

Because maybe this was just Alex Smith handling his offense, but they did nothing. The wide receivers did nothing against the Arizona Cardinals. They have Patrick Peterson who he's not, I don't think he's going to shadow anymore. He may, but Brandon Cooks, what's your confidence level in Brandon Cook's taking on Patrick Peterson? I wrote him a love letter last night. That's my feeling. Really? Yeah, I'm delivering it today.

I love Brandon Cooks. I've targeted him in every league. I loved everything I saw on the field this week included. Because Brandon Cooks has shown that when he's up against number one corners, he vanishes. Brandon Cooks will be fine. Okay. That's my feeling. I think all three wide receivers will be fine. I do tend to take when the Rams or any kind of three heavy wide receiver groups go up against the dominant corner, I look for that number two. So Cooper Cup, Robert Woods. I think Robert Woods actually has a great game.

Did you see that, I don't know what channel's doing you now where they're showing the formation and all the players on every play. Did you see this? Yes. I think it was Monday night football? Yeah. I think it's interesting because it has, I mean, that's a very informative thing for fantasy owners. You know, three wide receiver one tight in. It'll say it right on the screen and it'll show the player names for each one. It's a fantasy football awareness thing. Yeah, it's really nice. So last year. It's 100% our fault. Last year, Cooper Cup had no fewer.

He had a game of 5 for 68, a game of 4 for 51 with a touchdown, which you're going to, of course you're hoping for more than 50 yards in for fantasy, but guys that you drafted to play as your wide receiver 3, 5 for 50 is I'll take it. What are you doing with King Goffrey himself here at home? Are you playing King Goughrey against the Cardinals? Yeah.

I think I think you should. The Cardinals defense, it did not show that it's any kind of great defense this last week at home with the weapons and with Sean McVeigh. If you haven't seen the Sean McVe video of him just naming specific plays from random years. Pretty amazing. His memory is unbelievable. He's a great coach. You know, they're going to be prepared for the Cardinals. And I don't, I mean, I don't give the Cardinals a chance in this game. Neither does Vegas. This is why I've pumped the brakes on Larry Fitzgerald.

You know, last year when Larry went to the Los Angeles Rams, he had three for 29 on three targets. Last year, the Rams outscored Arizona 65 to 16 in both games. It's going to be ugly. I hate it. Let's move on. The Lions, the 49ers. This is my. Andy's almost upset of the wig. I don't understand this line. I don't. I double checked it.

This was a jump off the page almost upset for me. The 49ers are six-point home favorites in this game against the Lions. I know the Lions looked bad last week. The 49ers didn't look special. Good one might not be on the field. I think that this is a layup almost upset of the week for me. So I have the Lions winning this ball game. And I have Kerry-on Johnson playing a big part in that. Jason doing okay over there.

The electricity, the versatility of Carion Johnson will help this offense get moving Matthew Stafford and company. Last week was ugly, but Marvin Jones, Kenny Galladay and Golden Tate are three dynamic pass catchers. I think it turns around this week. I really do. Look, I have good expectations for Garapolo in this game and Kittle, but I think it's a dog fight. I think it comes down to the wire, and I think the lions walk away with the win. What do you guys think about the fantasy?

you know, putting on a show against the Lions defense that I have not bought in on. That, and I get it. Let's put these Lions wide receivers in order of fantasy value this week. I have it Jones, Tate, Goladay. What do you got, Mike? I will go Tate Jones Goladay, but that's a, they're, they're difficult to rank because they have such specialties in my opinion where Marvin Jones.

He is very effective. When County Goliday is on the field, he scores fewer fantasy points. It's just how it is. It's the deep shot, though. Because Marvin Jones has the highest upside of any of these wide receivers. It's just will he hit on the one or two opportunities he gets when Stafford goes deep? People want to know, do they start Matt Breeder or Alfred Morris? Both. Yeah, I agree. It's ironic. I feel like this is the first week I can remember where there are.

several teams where I would start both starting running backs, whether it was the Ravens or the Redskins or here or Tennessee, I would start both of them. You've got the goal line opportunities with Alf that should be good at home in a favored matchup, and you have the past catching role. You like that one? You like that one reception? It was it was infinitely more than Alfred Morris's. Trichet.

Well, if you want to know why I overspent for George Kittles, last three games in half-point PPR, going back to last year and through this year. He was the tight-in seven, the tight-in two, and the tight-in six. I spent on the hope that we've got ourselves the tight-end two through five here somewhere for the course of the season. George Kittles should benefit from No Marquis Goodwin as well.

It should be interesting. Also, you know, Darius Slay and Company is going to be, you know, he's going to be locked in on somebody. You saw Robbie Anderson struggle. Even though the Jets were great, Robbie Anderson had a single target last week matched up with Darius Slay. I think that George Kittles is the beneficiary there. And maybe it is Matt Brita as well. Yeah, certainly. And we also mentioned it. Dante Pettis. Sneaky. If Goodwin is out, Dante Pettis will need to be used. He's.

A fast guy. I loved him. I loved him out of college. And one of those skills that translates to the NFL and to fantasy that we've seen is successful special teams returners in college tend to be able to get it done in the open field in the NFL. They just take like eight years like Ted Gaines. And Dante Pettis was one of the best all time. Right. He's impressive. And the play he made in the back of the end zone last week certainly caught my eye, Jason. Good.
