Week 11 Studs & Duds + Monday Punday, Rapid Cold Takes - Fantasy Football Podcast for 11/22

Last week's kind of breakout guy Marcus Johnson, who had a Hyundai this past week, was a solid DFS shot this week because he was super cheap. And with A.J. Brown's injury, Marcus was set up for, you know, he could have had some success. But no, he tweaked his hamstring on an end zone target. That was tough. I had him in a ton of DFS lineups, and he was done. Justin Fields exited the game with a rib injury, bruised ribs, not broken.

but it's going to be up in the air whether he starts or Andy Dalton's back out there. It didn't hurt Darnell Mooney to have Andy Dalton out there. Well, yeah, I agree. But to be fair to Justin Fields, the Darnell Mooney huge play was a wide receiver screen that was thrown horizontal. So Justice Fields could have made that play too. Which one? Darnell Mooney's huge touchdown. No, it wasn't a wide receiver screen. Yes.

No, it wasn't. I don't think you. My memory was not a screen. No. He hit him down field and then Mooney. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe he did both. I think both were true. It was awesome. He had a great thing. We did watch the games, right? Yeah. Maybe it was. There was definitely. I know he jukeed them after the catch. I just don't remember how far downfield. There was definitely. Holy 16 targets. Five catches.

16 targets and five catches for Mooney? That's right. 120. If you see five for 121 and 1, you're like, that's a great line. Just focus on that. You see 16 targets. You're like, that's awesome. But when you put them together, you're like. It was super a screen. It definitely was. We should always trust his memory, Jason. Yeah. Honestly, Foot Clan. Mike, Mike's memory is unbelievable. Yeah. Not the postman. No, no targets for Dan Arnold. Jordan Howard did not return injured knee in the third quarter. He had been getting a lot of work after a Miles Sanders fumble. So we'll see what happens there. Rashad Penny hamstring injury, I think on the first play of the game. It was, and here's what was so interesting. The news comes out about Chris Carson. He's going to miss the season. Alex Collins has been on the injury report a little bit. He hasn't not been special at all.

This whole offense has been putrid. But play one, snap one. It wasn't Alex Collins out there. It was Rashad Penny. And it was like, oh, is this the time where they're going to go to Penny, their first round draft pick? And it wasn't just that. It was, I remember commenting out loud going, holy crap, Rashad Penny, because he was shot out of a cannon. He looked awesome. And then was injured on that play. And he tapped himself out. Yeah. Knee injury for Eric Ebron towards the end of the game. Monitor that.

Tim Patrick, Fireball Jones, signed a three-year, $34 million extension. Caching. Let's talk about what that means. Well, it means the future of Cortland Sutton is probably not as a Bronco. Let me break this news. Three minutes ago it happened. The Broncos reached an agreement on an extension for wide receiver, Cortland Sutton. Four years, $60 million with $34.9 million guarantee. Take that Fireball Jones. Wow. So they are locking up this receiving core without a quarterback. Yeah, I mean, I believe that that should be their next step. Let's figure that out. Wow. Yeah. Is that as shocking to you guys? Considering how.

uninvolved he's been. Not the uninvolvement, because I think that he is an excellent wide receiver, and I think the Broncos know that. It's been, you know, the quarterback choices and things that haven't gotten court in the Sutton, the ball. Where it was interesting is giving Fireball that money, and you have Jerry Judy on a rookie contract, and you do have KJ Hamler, who granted his, tore his ACL this year, and I...

I think he all, did he miss a bunch of time as a rookie as well? So maybe they're just, this was a like, Hamler's not going to be healthy. But that is a lot of money to lock up into your wide receiver core when your signal caller is Teddy Bridgewater. Yeah, I mean, they have to figure that out. Someone's going to be going hard in the paint for Aaron. For Aaron. For Aaron Rogers. Well, I mean, this is a, I like to see this. They're making a commitment to the fantasy community.

to put us in a state of not knowing who to play every week for years to come. They want us to not know if it's Judy Patrick or Sutton on any given week for a minimum four year time period. Yeah, it's a real shame as it stands now. I mean, the last month, Coralyn Sutton is on a pace, a full game season, a 17 game full game season of 620 receiving yards. Pay the man. It seemed like maybe that deal was going to make it more clear with Judy and Tim Patrick. Exactly. But, I mean, all three are good wide receivers. That's the truth. I only wish you would have said there is no way that Cortland Sutton will. I guarantee. Sequo and Barclay, expected to play tonight. Ah, that's nice. Bucks are optimistic. Gronkowski will make a healthy return. Not an unhealthy return like last time.

I mean, 32 for 185 and 4 on the ground for Jonathan Taylor, three for 19 and one through the air, eight straight games of 100 plus scrimmage yards and a touchdown. The only other running back to ever do that.

was L.T. Oh, man. Ledanyan Tomlinson broke fantasy football. He changed keeper rules in fantasy football because if you had him, you just won championships over and over and over. And that's what it feels like right now, this little run with Jonathan Taylor. And here's the best part. The best part. This was against the Buffalo Bills who have shut down.

everybody. Yeah. This isn't like, you know, the end of last year where you're looking at Jonathan Taylor's dominance and you go, well, his schedule was very easy. This was just, he's, I'm better than you, I'm bigger than you, I'm faster than you. It was awesome to watch. I mean, every time he touched the ball, he just, he looked like a, uh, unmitigated NFL superstar. And, and I think that's what you get. I think going into next year, he,

He's in the number one conversation. Yeah, it's him and Christian McCaffrey. And I saw a recent poll on that, and the vote was in Taylor's favor. I mean, recently, I'm sure, playing a part. But sometimes it's a trend. And this is the only eight game, 100-yard plus a touchdown trend that has happened since LT. Just so many red zone rushing attempts. Austin Echler had four touchdowns of his own.

We had somebody in our league of record with both guys. That was nine touchdowns at the running back position. They won this week. They won, yeah. They wanted to move some touchdowns to next week. But Austin Echler was amazing, two receiving, two rushing, outstanding game for him. And, you know, again, Pittsburgh on paper, it doesn't look like the most juicy match. Like, maybe Taylor's fine. Maybe Echler's fine. But you don't look at it as like, you're going to break.

your own records in this game, and both of them did that. Joe Mixon, this is why nobody knows Joe Mixon is great. It's because these weeks happen, and Joe Mixon, he just keeps coming in third or fourth on a week, but two touchdowns for Mixon, 123 yards, 30 attempts. 30 carries. I was talking to Mike all game. I was like, I feel like every time I look at the Bengals screen, it's just a handoff to Joe Mixon, and then I check, and I'm like, oh, it was 30 carries. Outstanding.

and DeAndre Swift ended up with a touchdown on a big run. Two straight weeks for him, 130 plus rushing yards. Christian McCaffrey, seven for 60 and one in the receiving game, just 10 carries. I believe Cam Newton out carried him, or they were tied.

I know Newton at least had 10 of them. Kim Newton had 10 carries. So they both had 10 carries. And still a great game for Christian McCaffrey. When you get eight receptions in a PPR league and you get over 100 in a touchdown, that's like it feels like his baseline. Dalvin Cook and Nick Chubb, Christian McCaffrey, some of the stalwarts all had nice weeks. And James Connor had another touchdown. He now has 12 touchdowns on the year leading the league. Also caught five passes for the Colt Mcjoy Cardinals.

Devante Freeman keeps getting it done. 16 for 49 and a touchdown. That was something to, it was interesting to see what you have, you know, Levy on Bell was cut, Latavius Murray was back, is this prescriptive of like, or was it simply Latavius Murray was getting the, you know, he's just back from his injury. So they still went with Freeman or do you feel like it will be Freeman moving forward? I think the prescriptive.

part is that they believe in Devante Freeman and I think that they trust him and they're fine utilizing him. That's why Love Bell was let go. I do think some of the fact that he was the clear cut RB1 here was due to Latavius Murray. He looked injured still. Clyde Edwards-Alair came back. 12 for 63 and a touchdown. Two targets, two for 13. Beginning of this game, it was pretty much all Clyde.

So that was interesting to see. I know a lot of people hesitant to start him, but came right back in. Five carries for Daryl Williams. Yeah. I don't know what is. We got pull up his receiving total. I don't remember how many he had. But. Looks like three targets. Clyde also had a couple, a handful of big plays in the first half that were called back on penalty. So he looked good. It was nice to see. He did. He did something really awful, though.

Oh. Did you guys see that? Yeah. I had to shield my children's eyes. Yes. Do you see him when he was running into the end zone, he pointed. Yes. Oh, what a scumbag. I mean, what dirt to point. Celebrate your touchdown? There's not supposed to be fun around here. Yeah, I think I saw some kids ended up doing drugs after that. Yes. Yes. It's bad. I'm glad they're rooting out the emotion from a sport.

Well, that's what I think everybody wants. Everybody has really talked for years about NFL. Can we please stop these emotional outbursts of joy on the field? Except, except, and he was called for a taunting penalty, 15 yards, except when it comes to social media, and then the NFL accounts actually promote the taunting plays until they get called out by the entire world and then they delete the tweets. Hmm. Except the internet doesn't forget.

Yeah, that happened. And it reminds me a lot of when the NFL was trying to simultaneously remove big hits and then they used big hits in their promo videos. Or when they took away dancing and celebrating in the end zone and then put it back because, duh, I mean, the league is. Why do you do these stupid things? They don't call you the No Fun League for no reason. You find a new way to do it every single year. And frankly, you ask players to go out and play.

as hard as they possibly can to train their bodies to play as a team. You put 60,000 people in the stands to cheer for them. And then when they celebrate, we're dumb. I mean, there are. The NFL's got us. I'm telling you. This is part of the making sure that we keep talking about it. This is the apple. This is, we're going to take this stuff away just so we could give it back to you and celebrate it in a little bit. We've got ports back.

That's what it feels like. It's just so that they can bring it back in a couple of years and be like, now we encourage taunting. The pros love taunting. How about you just define taunting in a real way? Yes. There are things that should not happen. You know what shouldn't happen is when a guy's down on the ground after a hit, you don't stand over. Absolutely. And, you know, scream in their face. You shouldn't be truck sticking people.
