The TRUTH: Fantasy TEs in 2019 + Super Bowl Reactions

a 17-game regular season schedule. This is one of the league's sticking points on a new labor agreement with the Players Association. The Players Association wants a higher percentage of revenue. And every fantasy football or NFL fan in the world wants them to want the same things or at least get what they want so we can have a regularly scheduled 2021 season.

This will not affect 2020. So if anybody out there is thinking they're hearing about labor disputes and all of this, football is already on schedule this coming year will be excellent. And hopefully they sign this deal before the end of this. They're right now voting on it. So hopefully they can get things passed before next year. But football is going on schedule this coming year. And it's wild because one of the things that could happen with these.

with a 17-game season, there could be two bye weeks. Now we're talking about a 19-week season. There's going to be pretty large changes just to how just fantasy football is structured in playoffs and championships. Hopefully they put the buy weeks in a place where it's friendly for fantasy playoffs, and you don't all of a sudden have a second buy in the actual fantasy playoffs.

Wow, that could happen. There's a lot to watch out for. It's a complete unknown at this point. As far as I'm concerned, Mike, that just means that our listeners will do even better. That's right. It's true. And all the week 17 championship people are there, yeah, we did it. We pulled it off. Yeah, we're important in week 17 and we'll be saying no championships in week 19. That's right.

That's right. So we'll see what happens. If they vote for it, it would go into effect 2021. Ryan Fitzpatrick, he says he is playing. He says the dolphins are very open about wanting him to play for them. He expects it to happen. I would imagine the slight, you know, the best strategy to me seems like barring, you know, if the team wanted to sign Phillip Rivers, for example, if Tom Brady wanted to play in Miami, that type of situation could change things for.

But outside of, you know, one of those big-name guys coming to Miami, it makes the most sense for them to bring in a rookie, put Ryan Fitzpatrick behind center, get that second year with Ryan Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick on two different teams. Well, Ryan Fitzpatrick has had about 35 offensive coordinators. That's true. That's true. But yeah, it should be fun and I'm excited because the dolphins were unexpected fantasy points this last season once Fitzpatrick got in and the connection with Devante Parker. Yeah, Devante Parker has to be very happy. Doc Prescott, Adam Schepter reporting that the Cowboys are expected. They're expected to use the franchise tag.

The discontent, etc. Your quarterback has to be there for training camp, though. I'm just saying that I think you're right. I think a deal will get done. I think you'll have the stuff come out in the press on both sides of it. This was the tweet, League sources telling ESPN.

With no long-term contract in sight, Dallas Cowboys and Dalek Press got are heading straight towards a situation where they will have to use the franchise tag. Brooks, were you going to add something? Yeah, it's just from an ESPN article. That could end up going, you know, a Kirk Cousin situation where they franchised him a couple times and then led to a complete free agency. I don't think so. I don't think this will happen. I think Jerry signs his guys and he'll sign him to a long-term deal.

the truth of the tight-in position. We'll start with this statistic. Eight NFL teams targeted the tight-in position 25% or more of the time in 2019. Ravens, 42%. Makes sense. Eagles, 39%. Both those teams, multiple tight-in options. I can't believe it's only 42. For the Ravens? Yeah. It feels like it should be like 75. They only run tight ends out there. And sometimes Hollywood Brown.

That's right. Willie Sneeds basically a tight end. And they don't pass their running back that much. This does seem surprising. They should have like a Mighty Ducks flying V formation where they just take all their tight ends, but they all like surround Hollywood Brown. So you don't even know he's in there. You can get Ebron over there too. He's going to be free. Oh, yeah. So the Ravens at 42%. The Eagles at 39%. By the way, the eight NFL teams. That's the most since 2016.

The Raiders at 33% the way. Yeah, the Waller is. Colts makes sense, right? Ebron Dore. That's 29%. The 49ers at 28%. Makes sense. Chiefs at 28%. Also makes sense. The Rams. Does not make sense. Great games. At the tight-in position, we're calling any game over 15 fantasy points. Good games between 9 and 15.

and bus games fewer than six fantasy points. Travis Kelsey's number one. He was also the most consistent, tight end in fantasy. Not a surprise, 97 for 1229 and 5.

What were your takeaways from this Travis Kelsey season? So Travis Kelsey has been the number one tight end several years running. I don't see any reason to doubt that he will be the number one tied in. Even with Kittle coming up, the truth is he's very consistent, he's very good. He had a monstrous season, and yet the touchdowns weren't there. So you were a little bit disappointed, but given his yardage, his targets, all of that, I would fully expect the touchdowns to go up.

The big thing I was going to get to was that his red zone targets dropped dramatically from 16, two years ago when he was an absolute touchdown monster and it dropped to 7, which turned into a massive drop in red zone touchdowns from 9 down to 2, which is why you only had the five total touchdowns on the year. So it was disappointing. I think if you paid up the draft capital to get Travis Kelsey, you had a difference maker at the position, but...
