Fantasy Football Draft Podcast for 2015 - Free Agent Wide Receivers and Rookies

And they've got the quarterback to get the ball to the guy. And so it's going to be the same thing as when Eric Decker left and Emmanuel Sanders came in. It might not be the greatest name. But if somebody does that, draft that guy. Yeah. Other than that, no, no free agents. I would do the same thing with the Eagles if McLan leaves and they have to replace him. I would. Jordan, Madder.

Yeah. No, no, you're right. You can't just have one wide receiver. You can't if he's doing that. And that's why you would go with one of those guys that is young and has upside. So two guys that jump out to me in that category would be like, you know, Vincent Brown. If he landed someplace, he's 26. He has talent. He's still on the Chargers, right? He's a free agent. And no, he wasn't on the Chargers. He went to Oakland. He went to Oakland in the middle of the season. Wow. I completely missed that.

Yeah, and I had another guy on my list, whether it's like Andre Holmes or Denarius Moore, if they landed in a good quarterbacking situation, then at least they're 26 and they have talent. I think I'm off on DeNorius Moore, but Andre Holmes had my affection for a small amount of time last year. I liked when he was producing.

what he was producing the deusing. What do you love? When he's producing? Producing the deusing. Man, Miles Austin is only 30, but doesn't he feel like about 48? His legs are 52 years old. Oh, my gosh. Yeah, I think we've covered the big names. A couple guys we didn't mention, though, that aren't free agents. They have implications for, well, there's a couple guys who have implications for other receivers like Wes Welker is a free agent. Hakeem Nix.

Well, I was going to bring up Larry Fitzgerald and Mike Wallace. Yeah, we do need to talk about it. But I'm saying that if Hakeem Knicks and Reggie Wayne are, do we really think both of them will be back for the Colts? I think Reggie's back. I just do you think he does, you think he plays or do you think he retires? Well, yeah, he doesn't go somewhere else. I agree. He's back. He plays and he's only irrelevant to himself, but I think it's going to be relevant to other players there.

My only point was because if Nick's leaves, then Dante Moncrief gets a boost. Oh, I looked up Duran Carter. He got like no money. Yeah, it's not much. For all that talk about he got no money, he got no signing bonus. I don't know. Why was that even being talked about? So strange. It's because it's February.

I would say the last important thing to talk about, especially because within the fantasy footballers, we have a water bet on this. We actually already have a water bet. Do we? On whether or not Larry Fitzgerald resigns with the Arizona Cardinals. Wait, wait, wait, wait. Let me guess. Yeah. Andy has him staying. You have him leaving. The hitman is always on it, guys. That is correct. That's accurate.

I believe that Larry Fitzgerald cannot stay here. The Cardinals pretty much have about the worst draft or cap position in the league, and I just don't think it's...

I'm hoping that the Cardinals, as a Cardinals fan, I'm hoping that the executive and front office has finally got to the point where they do what is right for the team financially going forward, you know, a la the Patriots, letting guys go when they need to go, rather than giving, you know, the hometown fans what they want. So I think Larry leaves, and that would be a big free agent. I mean, have Larry go to Green Bay.

I would love that. But I think he leaves. Andy thinks he stays, and one of us will get watered on the air. You will see it. You already got watered today. That's how the podcast started. My iPad did. I actually think I'm leaning towards that he stays as well. I make sense. We're pretty good at this. To me, while he, of course, he wants to get paid. He's been paid well. He's been paid handsomely over his time. In his time in the NFL, he's coming to a close. And he will, while he tries to get maximum money.

There's only a handful of teams that I actually see him going to because he wants to win. He wants to win. He also has local endorsement deals here in the Valley that I don't know. I mean, you can get those anywhere. Wait, no, you can't. You can't go as a wide receiver three into another. Okay. Let me tell you where he's going. You guys want to hear where he's going? He's not going to New England. He's going to the New England Patriots. No, no, no, no, no. I know where he's going. I just got off the phone with him, guys. Okay. Larry Fitzgerald is going.

to the Minnesota Vikings. He's going back home. He's coming home. I don't see it happening. And you want to talk about not getting local endorsements in his hometown with Teddy Bridgewater. It's one place that makes sense. But they got, they're not close. And they're not close to winning. And I don't think they're ascending, but they are not close enough to win. Jason, you're completely right in three years. You are completely right.

Well, then I will expect you to take my water back. But if you look at teams who are wide receiver needy, who are in championship caliber position, if you're talking about New England, he would have to take very little money to go there. Green Bay. Green Bay. But Green Bay, they paid Jordy. If they're not going to pay Randall Cobb, why would they pay Fitzgerald? Because he's a Hall of Fame.

quarterback and they lost Randall Cobb? I would rather have Randall Cobb than Larry Fitzgerald on my... Did I just call him a quarterback? I don't know. I thought you did, but I think you meant that Rogers was. The Colts, that's a possibility. No. I'm just saying... Oh, you're talking about teams? Teams. Teams who need a wide receiver and their cusp of winning. Baltimore. Baltimore. Baltimore is a good point.

Bengals? Nobody's paying him his salary for this year. No. Nobody. No. I agree. So if he's renegotiating his contract, knowing Larry Fitzgerald as a Cardinal fan, he's staying here. Well, the nice thing about this is that it will happen and we will know and one person will be actually physically punished for their predictions. We don't just predict things and let it go. We predict things and punish wrong predictions. My one scoop of inside information.

And his news was that behind the closed doors, Fitzgerald was having meetings with the brass of Arizona saying that he was really unhappy with his involvement in the offense. watching the games I mean you you kind of have to think that especially look at his numbers for this year there those are what do you have like two touchdowns I mean incredibly low numbers for Larry Fitzgerald so that's the one knock on him not returning so but I still just I think that they'll hash it out and I think Fitzgerald comes back well there you go

Anybody else we want to talk about before we wrap this up? We're sitting at an hour here of talking about free agent and wide receivers. The one other guy who's not technically a free agent, but I believe will be shortly a free agent, is Mike Wallace. I agree. He's owed too much money for what he comes with of quitting on the team. I mean, the news coming out that he got benched in the last week for quitting, saying he didn't want to play.

and that it was not the first time that he has said he doesn't want to play. Can you imagine as the coach, your superstar, big money, wide receiver? Yeah, I don't really feel like playing anymore. Like, okay, that's fine. Mike Wallace is the reason why you don't give crazy money to these guys sometimes. And a fun fact, which I think all of us have already heard this, but maybe people haven't. They offer the contract that Antonio Brown received...

two years ago, was offered to Mike Wallace before it was offered to Antonio Brown. And that would have made him into Antonio Brown? No. But just imagine the Steelers. Couldn't be more of a difference. What the Steelers would look like if that was, if Wallace was still on the team with all that money quitting. So I don't, I don't, do we want to elaborate where we think Wallace ends up?

I think, you know, all these free agents are going to end up in the spots we've been talking about. You know, if they're chasing money, they're going to end up on one of those bands. He wins up in the same place that D. Jacks did. He'll get paid. He won't get paid through the nose, but he'll get paid because you ask a guy like Patrick Peterson, who's the fastest guy he's ever played against in his entire NFL career. He says Mike Wallace. He says Mike Wallace is the fastest guy he's ever had to cover. He'll end up in a roll somewhere, catching long bombs, making you annoyed like Tori Smith and quitting on teams until he retires. Tori Smith did not quit.
