Someday Jason will be back. For now, it's just me. Mark Waltonberg himself, moving forward, I mean, it's hard to find running backs. Yeah, he's a starting running back. Here's one. I found one. You know what's funny is, so Kenyon Drake leaves and you go, okay, this is, you know, it's Mark Walton season, right? But you obviously temper that's the Miami Dolphins. They haven't had great success. But a lot of people are going to be scratching and clawing to get Mark Walton. And yet.

121 passagesKalin Belage is still there and now benefits from Kenyon Drake leaving as well and is also the goal line back. Now, I hate Kalin Belage as a talent. You really do. As a talent. Yeah, I've never thought he's a good football player. And so it's one of those things where it's really confusing because if you have to have two guys.
that are splitting the load, you usually want that goal line back, like similar to the Eagles, where you've got Jordan Howard and Miles Sanders. Usually you want the goal line option in Howard so far this year. It'll be, though, how much does that split actually go to, Belage? Sure. While he has been the goal line back, you're talking three carries, three carries, two carries the past three weeks. I think one of the big differences between the Eagles and the dolphins is you expect the Eagles to have opportunities at or near the goal line.
Whereas you don't with the dolphins. Sure. Yeah. And Belage has scored in consecutive weeks, I believe. Yeah. Yes. That's all he's done, though. Right. Because that's the only place they use them. All right. That's the only place they use them. All right. Deshaun Watson. Oh, my goodness. He's pretty good of football. He's so good. He's so.
Good. That play where he gets... You're kicked in the face? Sput around, kicked in the eyeball, and then just throws a touchdown. He's unbelievable. I think watching Watson and Lamar Jackson navigate the pocket, navigate being tackled, move outside the pocket, running. Those are two players that, like, when you look at the evolution of Kyler Murray and his good games and bad games, that's the one thing that his small stature hurts him so bad.
I mean, he goes down so quickly compared to Watson and Sean. Lamar. Lamar. And JJ Watt, obviously, sad news toward his peck, I believe, and so he will miss the rest of the season. But with no J.J.J. Watt, no Jadavian Clownie, this is not a scary defense anymore. The Houston Texans defense is a great matchup for your offense. But that also means that it's just all, you know.
Good news for Deshawn Watson and Hopkins, and I think Kenny Bills will get back on the horse. Had a couple starts of the week with big weeks, Matthew Stafford, Jared Gough. Stafford continues to pretty much eviscerate defenses. And I think you can count on him to continue to do so because he has great pass catching weapons, and they don't have a running game. Right. They don't have, they're transitioning to giving him more control. It's so wild what has happened.
for Matt Stafford, which, I mean, just the return is awesome to see. But with an offense that's led by Matt Patricia and Beville, I mean, this is not what any of us expected for Matt Stafford to be the guy who's going downfield more than any other quarterback in the league. It felt like this entire game. Every shot was just this bomb. You know, it was like, oh, Matthew Stafford going deep and he's got.
It's got multiple weapons that can break loose. So, yeah, he's a guy that I think is just going to keep having great games, at least next week at Oakland. And this was a game where Trey Carson had 12 carries. Ty Johnson at seven. Trawla, la. Yeah, the running back, and Paul Perkins got in there, too. The way that they distributed the carries was not very much the, we're going to have Ty Johnson and J.D. McKissick split the load.
No, but, man, weapons. Galaday and Marvin Jones are red zone beasts. Gallaudet can get deep. Marvin Hall can get deep. Hawkinson's huge. Danny Mandola is perfect underneath. Like this team. They're interesting. You should hang on to Matthew Stafford right now. I agree. He gets to play Oakland next week, too. Yeah, and then Chicago and Dallas. Gardner Minchu, huge game for Gardner. Oh, man, that's awesome.
Drew Breeze came back. Big game for him. What was that? He's mad at Gardner for hurting him personally. I played against Gardner. Yeah. So he has no objectivity here. It is just pure and utter physical pain. Fuck, Glenn, I'm here today for myself. Sometimes you got a vent to let it out. I recommend not to bottle things up too much. Aaron Rogers. Getting it done. Yeah. He's the quarterback four on the season now. And he is playing like Aaron Rogers again. It's been, it's been a hot minute.
Since we have seen Aaron Rogers look like one of the best quarterbacks in the league. Should get Devonte Adams back next week. Yeah. I mean, it's, it's hard not to be bought in. Yeah. The Chargers gets Carolina. I mean, Rogers is going to continue to be great. And I agree with you. He's looked the part, the, the rollout deep pass. And was he throwing that ball away?
That's what I thought. He was throwing that ball away. But here's the thing. He was throwing the ball away. But then it was like, oh, no, Jamal Williams is playing against Jason. So he's got to be there to catch a touchdown. The Angels. Yes. The Angels at the end zone. Great movie. They slowed the ball down just enough. I will say I 100%, along with Al Michaels and Chris Collinsworth, thought that that was a throwaway.
I thought 100%. That was a throw away. If you watched the replay, Jamal Williams wasn't on the field. And then boom, he's there. It's pretty wild, man. They restriped the end zone an extra two yards in this direction while the ball is in the air. I just couldn't believe that. I was like, of course. All right. If I told you, Kevin Coleman had 13 total touches.
I think you'd be surprised that he ended up with over 100 yards and four touchdowns, and he could have had more. They just started spreading the ball around at the end of this game. Tim Coleman. Yes. Running back eight on the year despite the missed time. Yeah, four touchdowns will do that. But he is here to stay. Yeah, I mean, the thing that is the Cog is the Kyle Shanahan 49ers run game is going to be great.
That's just a guarantee. So whoever it is, because these guys all tend to get injured a lot. I mean, there's nobody there that's, I mean, Coleman as well, barita, most are, they're all injured quite often. So whoever is active, just put them in, put them in your line. Such a wild place to be here, man, of the offseason of Tevin Coleman, or the past couple years, stashing him in Dynasty leagues because it's, he's going to be freed, he's going to go to a team, it's going to be awesome, gets.
basically offered garbage money in the free market to go be for San Francisco. Everybody is sad that Tevin Coleman went to San Francisco. And now you're sad if you don't have Tevin Coleman. And then Tevin Coleman gets to play Arizona. Let me check this two times in the next three weeks. Including Thursday. Yeah. Oh, that's going to be spooky. Ooh. Hey, if you want to go see.

We'd like to thank quip for sponsoring today's show. Quip it. Quip it. Good. Look, you've got to help out your teeth. Crippin it, quip. As much, the cool things that your teeth do, they can't brush themselves. And if you're not brushing your teeth, you're not taking care of them. If you ask a dentist, what's the most important thing about a toothbrush? They will tell you. It's how you use it. And that's why you need a quip.
Quip's sensitive vibrations with a built-in timer guide gentle brushing for the dentist recommended two minutes. There's no guesswork when you have the quip. I've been talking about them for years. I've been using it for years, and it's still fantastic. Quip starts at just $25, and you'll get your first refill free at getquip.com slash footballers. This is a simple way to support the show and start brushing better, but you have to go to get QUIP.com slash footballers to get your first refill free. All right, I want to talk about Aaron Jones, because he was an absolute beast last night, even came off the field briefly.
with an injury, didn't stop him from 220 total yards. He leads the NFL with 11 total touchdowns. And I think the biggest difference that you've seen, like we sit here on the show and we talk about fantasy football and we get frustrated with coaches who seem to prioritize giving the ball to players that are not at the talent level of other players. I think the biggest difference in Green Bay this year,
is if you're going to go down, go down with your stars. Yeah. Get them the ball. Get Aaron Jones the ball in the passing game. Get it to him on the outside. Let him do something. Last year, he had 26 receptions on the whole season. Through eight weeks in 2019, he has 34. He has 42 targets already this year. He had 35 all last year. If you are throwing the ball to Aaron Jones. Goodness. Excuse me. I'm dying from the inside out, so you understand.
If you're throwing the ball to Aaron Jones, you're going to succeed because he's electric. He's an Alvin Camara type of guy. And so linebackers cannot guard him. Right. So this was one of those narratives before the season, where it was a lot of talk about getting Aaron Jones more involved in the passing game. That was what we were looking for in preseason, week one, really focused on it. It's definitely happened. And it's not going to, I mean, it's not one of those things where I think.
if they continue to utilize him in the passing game, that he's all of a sudden not going to be good. He's just going to keep being great if he's utilized in the passing game. Well, and it's no longer a binary situation with Jamal Williams and Aaron Jones because of the passing game work. You know, what do you want to do on offense, Matt LaFlor? Do you want to give the ball more targets to Jake Coomero or more targets to Aaron Jones and let him do something in the running game or, you know, in space? Jamal Williams had a great game as well, scored twice, 10 touches.
I think he's the far more unpredictable asset in the backfield, but he will get work. And if the offense continues to move the ball, both players will have a chance to succeed. What's Mike McCarthy thinking right now? What's he thinking right now? What's he like, does he have the Jeff Fisher? Thought like, well, I built this team. That's why it's so good. Probably. Yeah, of course he does. We're all humans. And to be a head coach, your ego's got to be big. Hey, McCarthy.
This is what happens when you use Aaron Jones. Yeah. And you know, you'd still have a job. It's probably true. Latavius Murray. Okay. Nine for 55 and a touchdown also played against Jason. 21 for 101 and one on the ground. Look, I know this is. I have everyone sick of it. But three of the top four running backs, Kevin Coleman, Jamal Williams, and Latavis Murray. Those are my opponents running backs.
This is ridiculous. Sorry. Go on. Latavius Murray forced in your honor, Jason, the most missed tackles amongst running backs in week eight. If you watch that game, he never went down on first content. He was constantly picking up an extra two or three yards. He looked great. He did. The Arizona Cardinals will help that to be a reality. What do you do with Latavius Murray right now? Because if you try to sell him to the Camero owner, you probably don't get a premium on him.
