NFL Draft Preview Part 2: QB & WR Rookies

I don't know. I thought, Miles Boykin. Oh, come on. I thought he was fundamentally sound. I mean, I felt like he was great when plays broke down, and I thought he was very fundamental. I think it's a matter of due to – because I've seen him as high as number two or three on people's rankings. And if the NFL, if a GM believes that that's the guy that they need to go get, and he has the opportunity, I think it could be very strong. My first exposure to Miles Boykin was –

uh how jason's favorite thing when he's watching someone else and uh the player you're not watching jumps out when i was watching dexter williams film uh i kept seeing this wide receiver bail this team out over and over and over making what i thought were spectacular catches and it was miles boykin so that was my first first taste of him and then

I really like the player, and then you add in the combine. And to me, the combine is just putting ceiling in because he doesn't have a ton of production. But if you look at the team, look at Notre Dame, they're number one quarterback last year for through for 2,600 yards. I mean, this was not a, this was not a wow you college offense through the air. So I can give him, I can cut him a little bit of slack there. I think he is a very solid wide receiver. He'll probably be a day two pick.

I don't expect him to go, I would expect him to go, you know, closer into that third round, but I think he can be an excellent wide receiver two for a team. I will admit, and I do wonder if, because, you know, certain guys you have scouted well before the combine, some guys, they just happen to fall after. He fell after the combine for me. So I wonder if his combine metrics overhyped him in my mind about what I was going to see. I was very disappointed. Maybe that's why. All right. Can you contain yourself?

Oh, no, no, sir. Talk about Markey's Brown out of Oklahoma. Somebody who did have a prolific quarterback throwing him the football, unlike Miles Boykin. Yeah, two of them. He went from Baker to Kyler. 5-9-166. Now, Jay, you're about 5-9, right? And 166. I wish. In my leg. In my leg. You got them 166 quads. Mm-hmm.

Look, so Mike was just talking about my absolute favorite thing when scouting people. Whenever I'm watching someone else and the guy I'm not watching stands out. Like this year, it's been Josh Allen, the defensive edge, on defense. But last year is when I fell in love with Marquise Brown because I'm watching Baker and he was just like, who is this just lightning fast dude on the field that nobody can ever catch? And that was...

That was Hollywood Brown. And now, you know, I didn't even know if he was an actual prospect. I looked him up last year, saw that he was like a buck 66 and went, oh, he's not an NFL prospect. And they come forward another year and he's still dominating everybody in college. He's clearly a high-end prospect. He's one of very few wide receivers going to the NFL draft tonight who could be a first-round pick. He could be the number one wide receiver take. Absolutely. And when I think in today's NFL,

Marquis Brown's going to, going to just pop off. I mean, he's, to me, he's like a Tyreek Hill style player where you can, you can run him on a little mesh route across the field, get him the ball in stride, and he's going to take it 80 yards. As long as no one hits him. Yeah, because the difference between Hollywood and Tyreek Hill and Brandon Cooks is about 20 pounds.

Yeah, at least on paper right now, that's what it looks like. Tyro Kill 510, Brandon Cook's 510. I think Deshawn Jackson when I see Hollywood Brown more than I do even Hill or Cubs. Not that he can't. Also, he is coming off of a Liz Frank injury, which to me is a bigger worry. It doesn't bother me. It doesn't bother me long term. I mean, we've had plenty. It doesn't bother. As a fantasy owner, I'm not going to shy away from Hollywood Brown because he suffered a Liz Frank in the Rose Bowl.

Yeah, I mean, in Dynasty, sure, I, you know, I agree. But there's such a chance, you know, I think it's 20% chance at needing that second surgery with this injury. So maybe he gets off to a slow start. The nice thing is if he is drafted in the first round, he'll have the draft capital. The team is invested and he'll get his shot. Quick reminder for everybody. Pick another wide receiver that you want to bring up, each of you guys, before we get into the predictions, because there are a handful of other names that you could bring up. Debo Samuel, Andy Isabella. Mike, what's the name you'd bring up? I would bring up Paris Campbell from Ohio State, about 6 foot, 205. And when I was watching him, he was the number one wide receiver for Dwayne Haskins. Last year, 90 receptions over 1,000 yards, 12 touchdowns.

And a lot of that production came in the screen game. And what stood out to me about Paris, one, I mean, he's fast, right? You're talking four three speed, which is incredible. But his vision is sensational where in these screens, he utilizes his blockers. 20. Yes. Oh, he sees blockers in perfect vision. And he plays it so intelligently behind these guys and just knowing the.

just breaking up the game, not I'm going to out-athlete you right now. I'm going to out-mind athlete you. I like to work up a mental sweat. What an insult that would be, too, to hear that one coming at you? Yeah. That's how he worked. So I really like Paris Campbell. And he could, he, to be fair, I think he could actually succeed if he went to Baltimore. Okay. So I'm going to bring up Andy Isabella, who I think is.

a better version of Paris Campbell. Both of these guys are world-class fast. We're not talking a fast wide receiver. We're talking about a Tyree Kill level of speed. These two guys are, you know, close to breaking the record type of four, three. You know, same speed, but one of them's like 20 pounds heavier. But the thing is, is Andy Isabella worked downfield.

He is a good route runner. Both of these guys actually were running backs in high school. So that's why you see this vision of being able to go around. People follow blockers is that Paris Campbell was a running back. Andy Isabella was a running back. Andy Isabella actually went to UMass as a running back. They recruited him and had him as a running back. When he was on the practice squad, he just started, they put him out at wide receiver and he was torching guys. And they're like, we're going to keep him here. But when I watch him.

He, to me, is a much more refined route runner down the field. College production is ridiculous. His college production is off. 102 receptions last year, 1,700 yards. Yeah, 13 touchdowns. To me, he is, he's a great prospect. He's someone that will be higher in my dynasty rankings than most. All right, guys, let's move on.

All right, it's prediction time. Let's go through quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, tight-in. Some of the names you brought up on Tuesday show. If you missed the running back breakdown, the tight-in breakdown, you didn't miss it because you got a phone and you can click the last episode and you can listen to it. And then you'll have heard it and it'll be great. All right, quarterbacks. Kyla Murray lands in Arizona. I'm going with Arizona. Jason? Jason. Yes.

No, Jason. Jason, who you got, Kyler Murray going to? Um, I, I'm, I'm going to take Kyler Murray to Arizona. Oh, you changed it. I'm changing it. So, yeah, to break this down for the footland, Jason had written in Oakland and we all knew that this was him trying to put out some kind of jinx into the universe. He pretty much tried to do what a lot of people think Steve Kime is doing in Arizona, a smoke screen until the last moment.

And then you made the ship. Smoke screening the number one. So here's trying to get that trade value. Don't take my guy. Here's the truth. If you don't know us and our personalities as well, maybe you're not listening to the spitballers and realize that I, you know, I really like to win these games. And I realize that there's the odds on favorite right now is that he does go to Arizona. And if both of you pick Arizona and I pick Oakland, I'm starting in a hole.

I don't want to lose this. I ain't eat no salad. I was going to say, here's what we'll do. We should definitely have a consequence for losing this prediction battle. And if we can't settle on something, we'll just put it up for the footclan at the FF ballers to decide the punishment. We'll give them a few options. Okay. They don't get the, it's not fill in the blank. This is not choose your own adventure. Because one of us is jumping into a cactus. Yeah, well, no, that's not going to be on the list, Brooks. All right? Not again. Okay.

All right. Dwayne Haskins, I think Washington trades up and takes Dwayne Haskins. I think Dwayne Haskins is the surprise that Oakland is planning at number four. Gross. I'm going to say he drops to Miami. All right, Drew Locke, I have going to Denver. I as well have him going to Denver. I think that that is a lock. Oh, man, that is impressive. Thank you. Boo.

We're going to predict four of the top running backs and where they land. Here's a surprise for you. I got Josh Jacobs to Atlanta, the Falcons. Devonta Freeman, not holding up. Kevin Coleman out the door. Atlanta.

welcomes a dual threat and Josh Jacobs. I've got a lot of eggs in the DeVos Freeman basket next year of my personal fantasy leagues. Let's hope you're wrong there. Yeah. Where do you guys have Josh Jacobs? I have Josh Jacobs going to the Ravens. They, despite drafting Mark Ingram, have brought in a ton of running back. They drafted Mark Ingram? They've brought in a ton of running backs. I don't think they're done. I think Oakland takes Josh Jacobs with their last pick in the first round. David Montgomery. Where do you have them going? Mike?

I have him becoming the handcuff and the backup to Davin Cook in Minnesota. They are going to need to put a priority on the running back position. I got him going to Los Angeles, joining the Rams. Oh, that's going to make a lot of people sad. Handcuffed to Todd Gurley. It would be very sad. Yeah, I've got him going to the Eagles. I think they are going to clean house from the Wendell Smallwood, Corey Clement, Josh Adams, reign of Jags and have a Jordan Howard.

uh david montgomery mix all right darrell henderson oh i love you darrell henderson i do too i uh mike let's take him out for froyo after the draft i do mike you have him going to the falcons i do i don't think he is a first round pick he may not even be a second round pick uh but i think he would be an excellent replacement for tevin coleman

Yeah, he is my Tevin Coleman comp left, right and center. I've got him going to the Bucks to take out Ronald Jones. Milwaukee, right? The Milwaukee. The Milwaukee Bucks. All right, to play by Janus. They also lost, you know, Antonio Brown. You need more electricity in this offense. Nobody's going to provide that more than Daryl Henderson. Rodney Anderson, Jason, you forced us. You forced us to predict this one for no good reason. No, I'll tell you the reason. The reason I forced it is because I am speaking it into the universe.

Rodney Anderson is going to go to the chiefs and be with Andy Reed, who will maximize his potential and he will be a superstar. Otherwise, he could flame out. I am going with undrafted or the Texans. You can't go or, which one? You can take undrafted. He won't be undrafted. You can't take two places. I'm going to take the Texans. Yeah, I mean, fine. I'll go with undrafted. All right. You're switching it up?

All right, let's move on to the wide receivers. Just talked about them on the show. We'll predict the homes five of them. Let's start with Nikiel Harry. Looks like Jason and I have them going to the same place, Jason. Yeah, I think Seattle, they've got that extra pick in the first round late. They are dealing with Doug Baldwin. It makes a lot of sense to me. Yep. I'm going with Arizona. Ooh, wait in the second round. Yep. First pick of the second round. Cliff Kingsbury wants to restock the offense.
