I'm going to take a shot at that backfield in Cleveland in the 10th round. If it doesn't work out, no harm done. But I'm going to take a high upside play there before I have to turn to defense and kicker and such. Yeah, at this point, I will look at the quarterback position. There's two guys here that I really love. I love both of them for this season. Ironically, they were once the one and two. James Winston and Marcus Marietta. Really like these players this year. I...

147 passagesI guess the truth is I don't want James Winston's start. So I'm going to actually take Marks Marriota. Gross. Yeah, I know. I feel like that is still a win for us, Mike, because I feel like we pushed him into a quarterback pick there. I feel great. Because we took Luck in Stanford. But at least he took Marcus Mariotta. So I feel good for many reasons. Yeah. Would you rather have taken James Winston or someone else? Because guess what?
I'm actually pulling the double up because I really believe in Winston, but I don't like his opening schedule. I'm going to grab Marioita and Winston, and I promise between the two of those guys, I'm going to have a top six streamed option through the season. I'm super happy with that. And it makes me happy, too, because two picks that I don't care about happened in between my pick and this next one on the board. So I'm definitely going to go wide receiver. I've only got three.
and so I'm staring down the likes of Alan Hearns, taking a shot with the Dallas wide receiver core. Not a bad pick here, I don't think. No, not at all. Danny M. Dola in Miami, half point league. Not at all. Potential high PPR guy. Deshawn Jackson. Could you get a bounce back? Michael Gallup. He's an option. Paul Richardson and Washington. A lot of different options. At this point, I think I am going to actually go with Danny Mendola.
I'm going to buy into a little bit of the, uh, the Miami hype machine. The Miami hype machine is less what I'm, because the only thing that translated in Miami was Jarvis Landry and the PPR presence. We got to turn a Miami Vice theme song into Miami hype. Oh, we do. Oh, the Miami hype. Make a note, Miami hype. It's happening. See, come for the mock draft, stay for the drops. Yeah. All right, Mike, you're on the clock. All right. So we are, we're.
We're winding down, my friend. You have to take a tight in still. I do. And a kicker in a D. So you got one open bench spot. Yeah. And with the sleeper selection, this is one of my favorite sleepers. One of our guys we highlight in the ultimate draft kit, I reluctantly had to trade him away in my dynasty league. But I get a share here of Corey Clements, who has the possibility of being the starting running back for the Philadelphia Eagles, not projecting that.
but he was already getting snaps with the ones. He was the red zone guy. He had turned into the pass catcher. Will that hold up with Darren Sproul's back? So Corey Clement, lots still murky, but the upside is so tremendous. And your next pick? And I'm back on the clock. I talked about what I was going to do. Vance Pants. I called my shot many rounds ago. Vance McDonald. Don't get caught with your Vance down. That's all I'm going to say. No. You get fired for that. You know what I'm going to do here?
is I'm going to recognize the reality of every single draft that you're in, which is you're going to want to sign somebody week one. You're going to want to make a call and get it right or wrong quick with one of your last draft picks because you're not going to have time to wait and see what happens. I think the player to do that with right now is Doug Martin. Doug Martin with my final position player because if he does win the job, then I've picked a starting running back with my final pick in Doug Martin.
Pat Mahomes, after that, the Broncos D.J. Moore, which I think is why Jason yelled. Yes. And then Dak Prescott went. Well, Mike. Are you buying that hype? Hey, Jay Moore? The video? I, no, my rankings were done far before the video. I just want to highlight that you have James Winston and Marcus Mariotta instead of DJ Moore. Yep, thank you. I appreciate that. I thought he would get back to me at this pick. He did not. I am sad. This is three players. This is the last important pick of the draft. Dionne Lewis, Alex Smith, and DJ Moore that almost got to me.
Still, my team will beat you guys in the regular season, handily and easily. At this point, you know, it's between a running back and wide receiver. I'm even on both four and four. You know, I know who I want to take here. I just feel like it's so rookie heavy. But I don't care. I don't care because you've got to find the drop. Ooh.
I got to find a drop. There's a drop. Is he still out there? Did Johnson go to carry on? Yeah. Oh, carry on Johnson. Oh, he was going to be my pick. Man. All right. Then in that case, I'm going to take the chance. Just see if I can get him to draft him. Oh, man. Goodness. You did it. You did it. He was already in consideration. He's so smooth. I got him. The smooth routes. I got him.
Give me that Kenny Ghaladay. I was thinking between him and C.J. Anderson, but with. Oh, gentlemen. C.J. Anderson is the correct. As you quietly select your defense and kicker, I want to allow the listeners a little something special today. And we're going to close us out this half point per reception mock draft in a very special way. To the fantasy court. Oh, my goodness. We're going to let Brooks weigh in.
And we're going to let the judge make a determination. Now I'm going to give you your chance to run your team back. Present your case. Brooks, I'll start with my team. You guys can finish it out. I took Saquan Barkley. I've got him in the backfield with Ronald Jones. Isaiah Corwell, Nick Chubb, and Doug Martin are my running backs. I took Rob Grankowski in the second round with Hilton, Gordon, Edelman, Corey Davis, and Danny Mandola as my whiteouts.
and I'm pretty happy with this team. Andrew Luck gets to quarterback it. Hopefully. And that is my roster. Brooks. You can see it there before your eyes. If you need sunglasses, I wouldn't blame you because it's bright. The future is very bright for my roster. Now, Jason, why don't you read your roster to Mr. Brooks? Whatever team needs a cornerstone in David Johnson. Backfield mates, I'm going rookie heavy there with Sony Michelle, Royce Freeman.
Both locked into wide receiver two roles. I've got Marlon Mack, the opportunity for him to make some noise. And then a wide receiver, strong with A.J. Green, Adam Thieland, Ju-J-Smith, Schuster, Randalli, and Smooth, and then, of course, my first and second, what was that, 2015 first and second draft picks, Marcus Marriota and James Winston at quarterback.
And then you can't play him at the same time and get like one quarterback's worth of value. Well, see, the nice thing is when you play one quarterback every week, you end up getting a lot of bad games. Yeah, I love James Winston. If you only had James Winston, I would feel the exact same as you having Winston and Marioita. Well, you guys don't believe in Marioita the way that I do this year. That is correct. Mike, it's your term. Make your case, the judge shall rule. I drafted out of the nine slot. And speaking of.
a cornerstone at the nine slot I was able to get Odo Beckham who I just want to remind people the first three years of his career he is average oh wait a say you're making a real case well I just want someone feels inferior this is not at all this was because I mentioned this to Jason that's stupid outdoor that stupid outdoor pickleball that you just he was hurt last year so you just need a reminder his first three years Odo Beckham averages
nearly 1,400 yards and 12 touchdowns. So do not forget how good Odell Beckham is. Please. That's all I got. Please, Brooks. At the wide receiver position, this is where I'm very stout. Odell Beckham, Keenan Allen, Larry Fitz, Marvin Jones, and Robbie Anderson. Yeah, that's real nice. At the running back position, not as known, but Rashad Penny, Darius Geis, Marshaun Lynch, Aaron Jones, Corey Clements.
I'm doing the Vance dance at the tight end position, so I know that it would be considered by far the weakest of the group, probably of the draft, and Matthew Stafford is my quarterback. Now, before you make any sort of initial ruling, Brooks, this is a great time to remind our listeners that when you're mock drafting, wherever it is, and you get that grade from, you know, whatever it, maybe Yahoo gives you that post-draft grade, and you're feeling a little down and out.
Don't worry about it. Now, of course, if Brooks chooses me, the grade after the draft is the most important thing. Oh, okay. But Brooks, based on the initial draft and your massive expertise in both the legal and professional sports realms, who's your favorite team out of this draft of our three?
I declared Jason the winner of this mock draft. Almost blew it. Such a smart man. Almost blew it with two quarterbacks. I know, I know. It's not my usual cup of tea. If I looked at this roster, I might criticize the double up, but the truth is the only reason for the double up is because I love Winston and I hate his opening schedule. So Mariotta might be gone soon, but I love it. All right. He's blind.
All right, yeah, we'll post these rosters up on Twitter. You can vote for your favorite team. Hopefully you learned something today on the show, not just about our own tendencies here, but the kind of decisions you're going to face in your draft as well as where players are moving.
